2021 Volunteer Opportunities
It is time to begin thinking about Christmas and the Union County Christmas Bureau. We will begin taking applications from families on Monday, October 4th. The application process will take place at the Union County Human Services location. The application process will be limited contact due to COVID restrictions at our facility. Applications will be taken over the phone from the applicant and volunteers will enter the information into our Christmas HOPE application system while at our office. This is a very heavy computer skills-based opportunity.
For now, we are asking for volunteers that have excellent computer skills and can commit to at least 4 – 8 hours each week from October 4th through December 3rd. We ask for volunteers to be able to help in 4 hour shifts (8:30-12:30 or 12:30-4:30). If you would like to and are able to help with this, please respond to this email if you have not had our application training in the past. We will setup a time for you to take the application training before you can register for the events outlined below.
If you have attended the application training in the past and are able to volunteer this year, please follow these instructions to register online for this event:
- Visit the H.O.P.E. Union County Christmas Bureau event registration page here.
If you have problems with that link, try copying and pasting this address in your browser: https://www.cervistech.com/acts/console.php?console_id=0234&console_type=event
- Click on the “Sign Up” button next to your preferred date.
- Follow the on screen instructions to access the CERVIS registration system. If this is your first time using the system, you will be prompted to create a Volunteer Profile.
- Once you have successfully signed into the system (or created a profile, if needed) you will automatically be registered for this event if you have had the application training and receive a confirmation E-mail.
As more volunteer opportunities become available, we will let you know

Volunteer Opportunities Now Open
We have great news! It is time to move into the Union County Christmas Bureau site located at 2115 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Suite 200 (former Sears location), in Monroe Crossings Mall. The Christmas Bureau needs volunteers to help with the unloading of the trailer, setting up tables and preparing the sorting process on Wednesday, November 14th.
The Christmas Bureau has also opened its Monday – Friday slots for toy sorting and filling wish lists. There will be other tasks to complete depending on the dates that you select.
You may register using this link (you may have to copy and paste into your browser):

HOPE and The Christmas Bureau look forward to having you volunteer with us this year!
Application Process – Can You Help?
The Christmas Bureau has several shifts that have quite a few openings for the application process. Can you see if your schedule will allow you to fill some of these slots? These are the final 6 days of the process and will need as many of you helping as possible. Note that the last day for taking applications for Christmas Assistance is November 20th.
Also, please try to not cancel a shift at the last minute. Last week there were several cancellations that put us down to 2 people covering a 4 hour shift which makes it difficult since the number of applicants is increasing. We understand emergencies and sickness, but if at all possible, please try to be here if you are scheduled.
Thank you for your time!
Volunteering Update
Please Note: We do not have any volunteer shifts posted to our site yet because we are waiting for the space at the Monroe Crossings Mall to be vacated by the previous tenant. Once we know when we can move in we will be able to post the volunteer opportunities.
We appreciate your support and ask that you check HOPE’s website, follow us on Twitter or Instagram (Hope4ChristmasBureau), or check our volunteer site directly using this link https://www.cervistech.com/acts/console.php?console_id=0234&console_type=event
Special Thank You to Hylaine
We want to give a special shout-out to Adam Boitnott and his team at Hylaine for the excellent technology support they provided to HOPE this fall as we prepared to start taking applications for 2018 Christmas assistance. Thanks to their hard work and expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure, our application processing system is better than ever and we are able to serve the community more efficiently. We are so fortunate to be working with Hylaine – even though we are a small non-profit they have given top priority to helping us address our IT challenges. Thank you, Hylaine!
