2024 Volunteer Opportunities
It’s time to start thinking about Christmas and the Union County Christmas Bureau!
The application processing will be located at Union County Human Services, and our intention is for all applications to be taken by phone. We are currently looking for volunteers to serve as Gatekeepers and Interviewers during the application process. These volunteers will need excellent computer and communication skills, and it is best if you are available to volunteer multiple days throughout the seven weeks of application processing.
Applications will be processed October 7th through November 22nd, Monday through Friday. The volunteer shifts are 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 4 pm.
As more volunteer opportunities become available, we will let you know.

The Christmas Bureau has a location for Donations and Sorting! We will be in the old Habitat ReStore on Highway 74 (2520 W. Roosevelt) between Griffin Motors and Dunkin Donuts.
Distribution of Christmas Assistance will be at the Human Services Building, 2330 Concord Avenue, Monroe.
2023 Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities for toy sorting are posted on Cervis now (Christmas Bureau Toy Sorting) beginning in November. Food sorting will begin December 4 at the same location as last year, the Human Services Building (2330 Concord Ave.) If you are interested in volunteering or if you know someone who is, please let them know about these opportunities. More positions will be posted in the following weeks.
2021 Volunteer Opportunities
It is time to begin thinking about Christmas and the Union County Christmas Bureau. We will begin taking applications from families on Monday, October 4th. The application process will take place at the Union County Human Services location. The application process will be limited contact due to COVID restrictions at our facility. Applications will be taken over the phone from the applicant and volunteers will enter the information into our Christmas HOPE application system while at our office. This is a very heavy computer skills-based opportunity.
For now, we are asking for volunteers that have excellent computer skills and can commit to at least 4 – 8 hours each week from October 4th through December 3rd. We ask for volunteers to be able to help in 4 hour shifts (8:30-12:30 or 12:30-4:30). If you would like to and are able to help with this, please respond to this email if you have not had our application training in the past. We will setup a time for you to take the application training before you can register for the events outlined below.

Another Way to Help
We are grateful to all of our volunteers who support the Union County Christmas Bureau through the gift of your time. However, if you can’t volunteer this year, or if you are looking for another way to help, we wanted to let you know that we always accept monetary donations through HOPE for the Christmas Bureau of Union County, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
With the generous support of many in our community, the Union County Christmas Bureau makes Christmas a special time for many children and families in Union County. The tax deductible contributions received by HOPE are used to purchase gifts and food for families to enjoy over the holidays. To the parents struggling to provide their children with a Merry Christmas, your contributions can help lift part of the burden off of their shoulders. For many of Union County’s less fortunate children, these donations let them experience the joy and warmth of the Christmas Season that every child deserves.
To make a contribution online please click on this link.
We also accept checks mailed to our PO Box: HOPE for the Christmas Bureau of Union County, PO Box 79104, Charlotte, NC 28271.
